Success comes from helping others and staying true to your values. Through hard work, innovation, and a commitment to service, I’ve found that making a meaningful impact is far more rewarding than personal gain. This principle guides me daily, driving both my professional and personal pursuits to create positive, lasting change in the lives of others.
From the beginning, I knew I wanted to help people achieve the dream of homeownership, especially minorities who often face barriers in this journey. Growing up in Houston, my father’s property investments allowed him an early retirement, showing me firsthand the power of smart real estate decisions. His example shaped my work ethic, while my mother instilled the importance of empathy and caring for others.
Inspired by these values, I’ve always seen real estate as more than transactions—it’s a way to empower individuals and create lasting change. After earning a Bachelor’s in Real Estate, I initially built sales skills at Xerox, where I became a top regional agent, before transitioning to real estate full time in the challenging foreclosure market of the mid 80s.
My goal has always been to connect people to opportunities, building bridges where none existed. I consistently seek innovative ways to serve my clients. Long before virtual tours were popular, I used a VHS camera to create walkthroughs for out-of-town buyers, always staying ahead of the curve and putting my clients’ needs first.
Helping people—particularly those who doubted homeownership was possible—has been my mission. That’s why, in 1990, I launched The Real Estate Corner, a radio show dedicated to demystifying the home buying process. For over 30 years, I’ve aired every Tuesday, sharing insights to help listeners navigate the ever-evolving market. I’m proud to say it’s the nation’s longest-running real estate radio show, providing knowledge that empowers countless people to achieve their dreams.
I’ve also worked to impact the real estate industry as a whole, getting involved in associations when I saw policies shaped without diverse voices. I served as chairman of the board for the Houston Association of REALTORS® and later, for Texas REALTORS®, championing bridge-building efforts with minority associations and advocating for fair housing. One of my proudest achievements was establishing a partnership between Texas REALTORS® and the Texas Department of Housing, ensuring that housing policies reflect the realities faced by industry professionals and clients alike.
In 2024, I was honored as one of the National Association of REALTORS® Fair Housing Champions—recognition that reflects decades of work promoting equity and access for all. My focus has always been on doing what’s right, not for personal gain, but for the betterment of our communities. Giving back, through leadership, community work, and helping individuals, defines my approach to life. I aim to leave a legacy as someone who created opportunities, opened doors, and connected people to resources. Real estate may be the foundation, but the impact has reached much further.
I’m not just a REALTOR®; I’m a bridge-builder and a dream maker. Whether helping a family buy their first home or advocating for fair housing policies, my mission is to create pathways where none existed and help people achieve what once seemed impossible.
Outside of real estate, my family is my foundation. I’m married to Vernice, also a real estate broker, and together we have three wonderful daughters, Lisa, Megan, and Victoria. As a history enthusiast, I serve on the board of the Buffalo Soldier National Museum and collect toy soldiers, remote-controlled tanks, and model helicopters spanning various historical eras. I also enjoy collecting sports memorabilia, listening to music, and gardening - hobbies that keep me grounded and connected to my roots.
My approach to real estate is rooted in delivering exceptional service and real value to every client. Whether you’re buying a luxury home or a starter property, I believe you deserve the same high level of care and attention. From my time at Xerox, I learned that customer service is paramount, and I’ve carried that principle into my real estate career. I always go the extra mile—whether it’s through innovative marketing strategies or meticulously handling behind-the-scenes details to make the process seamless for my clients. My goal is to provide “Neiman Marcus service” to everyday people.
A key part of my success is the support of my dedicated team, especially my longtime assistant, Ethel Bellinger, who has been with me for over 30 years. Her expertise in handling essential aspects of the business enables me to balance running my business with my leadership roles in real estate associations. Together, my team and I ensure that our clients receive personal attention and quality service, helping them achieve their real estate goals smoothly and efficiently.
Sincerely,
